What We're Working On
The Center for Quantum Leaps launched in fall 2022 as a signature initiative of the Arts & Sciences strategic plan.
Our research will focus on:
- Fundamental physical science with applications of quantum technologies in research areas of astrophysics, condensed matter, chemistry, and nuclear physics. As cutting edge fields, research in these areas demands and enables the discovery of new technologies.
- Engineered Quantum Devices with research into quantum devices applied to biomedical and life sciences
- An initiative to apply quantum technologies to research questions pursued by the Biology Department, the Philosophy-Neuroscience-Psychology Program, and the School of Medicine
We look to:
- Bolster new hires in quantum science including positions in Arts & Sciences, the McKelvey School of Engineering, and the School of Medicine
- Enhance graduate research training in quantum technologies supported by a National Science Foundation Research Traineeship (NRT) grant
- Develop “IdeasLab” brainstorming workshops to create funded research pilot projects
