James Buckley, Professor of Physics, has been elected Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS) by the APS Council of Representatives upon the recommendation of the APS Division of Astrophysics (DAP).
The number of APS Fellows elected each year is limited to no more than one half of one percent of the membership. It is a prestigious recognition of outstanding contributions to physics. Jim was recognized for his "foundational work in the development of the dark matter (DM) annihilation technique in search of the particle nature of DM, for study of gamma rays from active galaxies and supernovae, and for designing high-speed electronics and data acquisition systems for gamma-ray telescopes.”
